worth it 3/13/23

Well folks, this is it. 
Country roads really did take me home. John Denver got it right, my mission has been the closest to heaven I've ever been. And I can't believe it's almost over.  

It feels like just yesterday I was sitting in the MTC and they told me that in 18 months I would have served a mission. And now here we are. CRAZY!

Someone told me once that your mission service is a lot like a painting. You get in the mission field, they hand you a blank canvas, some brushes, and say "paint". 18 months later and I'm looking at my masterpiece. 

And this week I will sign my name.

But the best part is that as soon as I step off that plane, I'll have a new canvas, some brushes, and it will be time to paint once again :)

I just have to say that I am BEYOND grateful for my mission, it taught me to paint! It has changed my life, and it has changed me.

I was reading in Alma 26 this week where Ammon is reflecting on his mission. At one point he goes over what would have happened "if we had not come", so I imagined the same scenario. 

If I had not come on my mission, I would not have met some of the most influential people of my life. I would not have felt the indescribable joy of living for the gospel each and every day. And most of all, I would have not known and understood the love of my Savior in the way that I now do. Because I came on my mission, I know Jesus Christ. And I love Him more than anything else. And with that I feel ready to take on the world. 

The last 18 months have been the hardest, happiest, most painful, joyful, longest, shortest, CRAZIEST time of my life. I've been ripped apart and molded and shaped and refined in so many ways. And in the midst of the growth I found my love for the Savior. And I found that while life with Him is not easy, life with Him is LIFE. It's abundant. It's the most 18 months I've ever lived. And it was so worth it. 

In all of the many moments, it was worth it. Because I found my Savior. The one who looked down on me and decided I was worth it. And I will spend the rest of my days telling people about Him. 
 I love my Savior, and I love all of you! I can't wait to see you so soon

  HI EVERYONE!!  This week was super good, other than the two times we got flashed :/ But it's okay, our neighbor has curtains now! But you wanna hear something crazy?? I was set apart as a missionary exactly one year ago today. That blows my mind. It has been the shortest, craziest, hardest, longest, best year of my life. And I never want it to end. I can't even begin to describe the joy I have found in serving my Savior over the last year. I'm so grateful for the change that has come in this time. In the last year I have learned so much about Jesus Christ- I've learned things I wouldn't have learned any other way. There is nowhere else I would rather be right now. But I don't want to give Jesus Christ just 18 months, I want to give Him my life!! We're not just looking to be good missionaries, good disciples for a limited time, we're seeking LASTING DISCIPLESHIP here!   Hey hey party people! Hope you had another amazing week! This week we did a lot of knocking! And one day the craziest thing happened... we looked back and saw a lady going door to door, warning all of her neighbors not to listen to us. It was crazy! I realized how hard Satan is working to oppose this work! But I also know that God is working harder :) With all the rejection in our finding, we've also seen some amazing miracles! We met a guy this week who was SO prepared for the gospel! He was raised in a very strong faith, but he doesn't have a Christian background. What we taught him about the Book of Mormon opened his mind to Jesus Christ and it was so amazing! I'm so thankful God let me see that miracle! I've felt a LOT of opposition in this area, but I've also seen some amazing miracles. I've felt strength beyond my own pushing me forward when it's hard. I learned something about doing things cheerfully this week. I had this scripture come to me on one...

  Hey yall!! Hope you're having an AMAZING day so far! And if it's not amazing yet then I hope you go change that :) You guys wanna know what my weekly goal was this week?? To FAIL!  And before you think I'm just giving up, hear me out real quick- I don't want to be controlled by a fear of failure!! I want to go forward with faith! And I want to ALWAYS try- even if I fail the first couple times :) And yall, I did so good at this goal! The week was full of MANY fails, hahaha. But for real, as soon as I accepted that failure was a part of living I became so much more excited to try new things and to stretch myself! So that's been a party :) And I learned something about failure and success last pday- we went hiking through a cave! And that is the first time I really experienced true darkness. The whole time into the cave all I could think about was how much further we were getting from the light... and how hard it would be to get out. Seriously yall, it was an intense...
