faith in the shattered moments 1/23/23

 Hey everybody!!


So I'm just going to be real today. This area in my mission has really tested me. It seems like no matter how hard I work and no matter what I do I just can't reach my goals. And that is so hard for me. But I made a goal this week to not let this area beat me! 

To go through unbroken. That's what I wanted to do.

About 2 days into my goal I talked to my mission president about it and the advice he had for me completely shattered me, to be honest. 

Unbroken, another failed goal. 

That was really hard for me to take, but I realized something about life- we won't go through it unbroken. And we're not meant to! It's DESIGNED to break us! Those shattered moments are what show who you are. In the midst of those trials you rise up and discover your courage.

We don't go through life unbroken, but our faith can be unshaken, our hopes can be high, and we can be happy on the journey. 

Even in the shattered moments. 

And after all, untried faith isn't much faith at all. These trials are where we get to decide where we will turn- toward or away from God. 

When Oliver Cowdery struggled with doubt, the Lord blessed him for seeking truth in a righteous manner, "blessed art thou for what thou hast done; for thou hast inquired of me, and behold, as often as thou hast inquired thou hast received instruction of my Spirit. If it had not been so, thou wouldst not have come to the place where thou art at this time." 
(D&C 6:14)

So where are you at this time?? In a place of hope or a place of doubt?

I learned this week that even when we feel that we are living in doubt- the Savior has power to pull us out of it. Even if you're in the midst of your shattered moments, when life has broken you, you can choose to wash out doubt with hope. You can choose faith. 

And THAT is what will make your faith unwavering. Choosing to have faith in the Savior even when you feel broken. 

Because there is nothing too broken for Him to repair, nothing too shattered for Him to mend.

  HI EVERYONE!!  This week was super good, other than the two times we got flashed :/ But it's okay, our neighbor has curtains now! But you wanna hear something crazy?? I was set apart as a missionary exactly one year ago today. That blows my mind. It has been the shortest, craziest, hardest, longest, best year of my life. And I never want it to end. I can't even begin to describe the joy I have found in serving my Savior over the last year. I'm so grateful for the change that has come in this time.   Hey hey party people! Hope you had another amazing week! This week we did a lot of knocking! And one day the craziest thing happened... we looked back and saw a lady going door to door, warning all of her neighbors not to listen to us. It was crazy! I realized how hard Satan is working to oppose this work! But I also know that God is working harder :) With all the rejection in our finding, we've also seen some amazing miracles! We met a guy this week who was SO prepared for the gospel! He was raised in a very strong faith, but he doesn't have a Christian background. What we taught him about the Book of Mormon opened his mind to Jesus Christ and it was so amazing! I'm so thankful God let me see that miracle! I've felt a LOT of opposition in this area, but I've also seen some amazing miracles. I've felt strength beyond my own pushing me forward when it's hard. I learned something about doing things cheerfully this week. I had this scripture come to me on one...

  Hey yall!! Hope you're having an AMAZING day so far! And if it's not amazing yet then I hope you go change that :) You guys wanna know what my weekly goal was this week?? To FAIL!  And before you think I'm just giving up, hear me out real quick- I don't want to be controlled by a fear of failure!! I want to go forward with faith! And I want to ALWAYS try- even if I fail the first couple times :) And yall, I did so good at this goal! The week was full of MANY fails, hahaha. But for real, as soon as I accepted that failure was a part of living I became so much more excited to try new things and to stretch myself! So that's been a party :) And I learned something about failure and success last pday- we went hiking through a cave! And that is the first time I really experienced true darkness. The whole time into the cave all I could think about was how much further we were getting from the light... and how hard it would be to get out. Seriously yall, it was an intense...
